iSync NotesBelow are some notes on how iSync works with Sony Ericsson phones. Not all notes apply to all phones.
URL SyncingSony Ericsson phones support only one URL in each Contacts details. If there is more than one URL in the Mac Address Book for a Contact, only one of them will be synced to the phone. iSync will sync the first URL it finds in the following priority order: home page >work >home >other. Company names without a personSony Ericsson phones require the Name field to be completed in Contacts designated as a Company in Address Book. If you leave the name field blank in a Company contact, iSync will automatically put the Company name into the Name field on the phone. If you want some control over this, you can enter a name in the Name field yourself in Address Book. (iSync will sometimes enter dashes where there are spaces in the company name). Extra mobile number fields on newer Sony Ericsson phonesMany newer Sony Ericsson phones now have 2 extra mobile phone number fields - Mobile (home) and Mobile (private) in addition to the usual Mobile field. Unfortunately, iSync doesn't yet know how to handle these extra mobile number fields so they cannot be synced to and from the phone currently. We have submitted a bug report (ID: 6329564) to Apple and hope that this will be rectified in a future iSync update. Apple's current status of this bug report is "being reviewed and investigated by engineering". If you need to sync a second mobile number to the phone, designate it as other in Address Book. Please note that you cannot sync multiple phone numbers of the same type. i.e. you cannot have two numbers both designated as mobile. Email address typesSony Ericsson phones do not differentiate between email address types. Newer Sony Ericsson phones will sync up to 3 email addresses designated as home, work and other in Address Book. New email addresses entered on the phone will sync back to the Mac as other type. "Additional info" field in phone ContactsNewer Sony Ericsson phones have an Additional info field within the Contacts home and work address details. iSync can either sync the Street or Additional info fields, but not both. Our plugins will sync the Street field to the Street field on the Mac and ignore any data in the Additional info field. Custom fields in the Mac Address BookFor successful syncing do not change the field names in Address Book from their default settings. If you do, iSync will not know which fields to sync with on the phone. Also, note that you cannot sync multiple data of the same type. i.e. you cannot sync more than one phone number of each type, or two home addresses, for instance. Custom or Country-specific Address formats in the Mac Address BookThe Mac Address Book allows you to choose a custom or country-specific address format for display purposes. Sony Ericsson phones do not support this feature. If you notice an address is displaying incorrectly on the phone, in Address Book, while editing a contact, click on the home or work label, and choose Change Address Format... > Reset to default. |
