iSync Plugin Installation

• If you have contacts on your phone, that are not in your Mac Address Book, you should transfer them into Address Book before syncing for the first time as detailed here.
• Then, make backups of your Address Book and iCal data by following the instructions here.
• If iSync is open, please quit it before proceeding.
• After downloading the software, the disk image should automatically mount.
  (If not, just double-click the downloaded .dmg file to mount it).
• Double-click on the Installer file for your phone model & colour.
  (If an installer for the specific colour of your phone doesn't exist, let us know, but install any option to start syncing.)
• Then, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
• When finished, the Bluetooth System Preferences pane will open (if your Mac has Bluetooth capability)
  and you can setup your phone as instructed below.

Phone Setup for Bluetooth Syncing

Mac OS X 10.4.11 and Mac OS 10.5.x

1. Ensure that Bluetooth is on in your Mac and phone, and the phone is set to "Show Phone" (discoverable).
2. In Mac OS X 10.4.x, click Set Up New Device... in the Devices tab of the Bluetooth preferences pane.
   In Mac OS X 10.5.x, click the + icon in the bottom-left of the Bluetooth preferences pane.
3. The Bluetooth Setup Assistant will open and you can start to follow the steps.
4. Click the name of your mobile phone in the list when it finds it, and click Continue.
5. The Mac will gather additional information. Then click Continue.
6. On the phone click Yes to add the Mac as a device and enter the passcode.
7. If the phone asks to be used as a modem, you must Allow it.
8. Next, the Mac asks to 'Setup the services you want to use with your phone', make sure ALL of them are checked, (as default) then click Continue. The Mac will start configuring services.
9. At this point iSync should automatically open and your phone will ask to be allowed to be used as a modem and as a remote control. Again, Allow them both.
10. iSync should now automatically add your phone, and the icon will appear at the top of the window.
11. Back in the Bluetooth Setup Assistant it will be asking for information to access the internet. You can leave these details blank for now, and just click Continue
12. Congratulations! Your phone is now set up to sync. Click Quit and continue to Syncing for the first time

Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard)

1. Ensure that Bluetooth is on in your Mac and phone, and the phone is set to "Show Phone" (discoverable).
2. Open the Bluetooth system preferences pane.
3. If your phone is already paired with the Mac, click its name and click the '-' button at the bottom of the devices list to remove it.
4. Click the + button or the Set Up New Device... button.
5. The Bluetooth Setup Assistant will open and you can start to follow the steps.
6. Click the name of your mobile phone in the Devices list when it finds it, and click Continue.
7. On the phone click Yes to add the Mac as a device and enter the passcode.
8. The Mac will start configuring services.
9. If the phone asks to be used as a modem, you must choose Yes.
10. If the phone asks to be used as a Remote Control you can choose Yes or No.
11. iSync should now open and add your phone, with its icon appearing at the top of the window.
12. Back in the Bluetooth Setup Assistant it will be asking for information to access the internet. You can leave these details blank for now, and just click Continue
13. Congratulations! Your phone is now set up to sync. Click Quit and continue to Syncing for the first time

Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)

iSync has been discontinued by Apple in Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and is no longer included. You will need to copy the iSync v3.1.2 application from a previous install of Snow Leopard into the Applications folder of your Lion boot-up hard drive.

Then follow the instructions for Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) above.

Phone Setup for USB Cable Syncing

Please note: As shown on the Supported Phones list before purchase, syncing via a USB Connection is only available for the C510, K310, K510, K660, W200, W902 & W995. For any other phone model, USB syncing is not supported and you are advised to sync via Bluetooth.

If you have previously synchronized your phone via Bluetooth, click on your phones icon in the iSync window, then choose Remove device from the Devices menu. Then delete the phone from the Devices list in the Bluetooth system preferences pane With iSync open, connect your phone to the Mac using the USB cable. Choose Phone Mode from the USB Connection menu that appears on the phones screen. Then, in iSync choose Add device... from the Devices menu. The Add Device window should appear and after scanning your phones icon should appear with a green dot at the side, and a USB logo on the right-hand side. Double-click to add the device. After a few moments your phones icon will appear in the iSync window. Congratulations! Your phone is now set up to sync.

Syncing for the first time

• Before syncing for the first time, ensure your Address Book and iCal data is completely up-to-date. Any contacts or events in the phone that are not on your Mac should be transferred to the Mac and imported or entered into Address Book and iCal.
• Create a group in Address Book and put the contacts you want synced to the phone into it.
• The Time Zone and Daylight Savings settings must be set correctly in your phone.
• Now, make a backup of your Address Book and iCal data before the first sync. Do this by choosing Back up Address Book... or Backup up Database in Address Book and iCal respectively for Tiger and Export > Address Book Archive... or Back-up iCal... in Leopard.
• In iSync, click the icon for your phone, and select the Erase data on device then sync option from the
  For first sync: pop-up menu.

• Choose the Address Book group you made from the Contacts - Synchronize: pop-up menu.
• Select any calendars you want to be synced to your phone.
• Click Sync Devices.

Synced Data

The Sony Ericsson Phone Plugins for iSync, will sync the following Address Book data:

Contact photos are synced by the W902, K660 and Symbian-based Sony Ericsson phones only.

Address Book SMS and Calls Support

These iSync Phone Plugins do not enable Address Book support for your phone. iSync and Address Book are two separate applications. To use Address Book with your phone in Mac OS X 10.4.x, please see here.
